# Update a content item

Updates an existing content item, including its fields and language.

  - `itemId` (string, required)
    The unique identifier of the content item to be updated.

## Header parameters:

  - `x-sc-job-id` (any)
    A unique identifier for the job, used to trace, audit, and revert actions performed by an AI agent through the Agent API.

## Request fields (application/json):

  - `fields` (any)
    A key-value map of fields to update for the content item. If null, fields will not be updated.

  - `language` (string)
    The language version of the content item to update.
    Example: en

  - `createNewVersion` (boolean)
    Whether to create a new version of the content item.
    Example: false

  - `versionName` (any)
    The name for the new version, displayed beside the version number. This is only applicable if `createNewVersion` is true.

  - `siteName` (any)
    The unique name of the site where the content item resides.
    Example: skate-park
